The US Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will now take place on June 20 - and, Craig believes, will benefit the sport's appeal in the only major market to not yet fully embrace the sport.
Said Craig, whose Craig Company owns the radio rights to Formula One in the US: "The move to June is very positive for the US GP and for F1 in North America.
"Assuming the Canadian GP remains in sequence there will be two F1 events in a row in a favourable time zone for TV and good opportunities for joint promotion between the two events.
"The overall presence of F1 will be enhanced.
"The June date puts the USGP at one of the more interesting points of the F1 Championship. In the past by the time the cars arrived in Indianapolis the season was running down. There is a lot more to talk about and to talk up in June."
Craig believes, however, an additional crucial move to boost Formula One's popularity in the US will be success on the track.
Says Craig: "What is crucial is for the series to have an American driver capable of winning races. Just look what happened to the Tour de France this year - interest was huge because of Lance Armstrong. Formula One needs to follow suit."
