The billionaire businessman spearheads a new six-member board, which has a strong emphasis on commercial clout - and, perhaps most crucially, has won the full support of FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
Blatter has described Lowy as the 'most credible' figure to try and rebuild Soccer Australia's tarnished reputation.
Joining Lowy is Ron Walker, chairman of the Australian Formula One Grand Prix and head of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games committee, and John Singleton, one of the leading lights in the world of advertising.
Said Lowy: "The new board are very dedicated people. I think they are good at what they do, they have a good record behind them and we will leave no stone unturned to improve the game for Australia." Lowy said.
Earlier this year, the entire board of Soccer Australia resigned following the publication of the government-backed Crawford report into the running of the organisation.
