Throug the expansion of the Yahoo! contract, FIFA's flagship event for women's football will be brought online on www.FIFAworldcup.com,
the official website of the FIFA Women's World Cup USA 2003, which launched this week.
As part of this expanded agreement with FIFA, Yahoo! will manage production while FIFA creates all the content for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, preliminary Draw (December 2003) and qualifying matches beginning in 2004; the FIFA Confederations Cup Germany 2005; the 2006 FIFA World Cup Final Draw in 2005 and the 2006 FIFA World Cup, all within FIFAworldcup.com.
In addition, Yahoo! will host the website of the Organising Committee for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The initial agreement included the 2002 FIFA
World Cup Korea/Japan and the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany.
"With FIFAworldcup.com as the official event website for major FIFA tournaments until 2006, FIFA continues to offer an impressive source of
extensive and exclusive information to football fans around the globe," said FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
In line with FIFA's efforts to develop the women's game, FIFA and Yahoo! have built a one-stop information and entertainment website in which the four main sections - Tournament, Pure Football, Entertainment and Destination USA - will provide fans with all the event information.
