IMG wins Australian Rally contract

IMG has won the contract to market the Australian Rally Championship for the next three years.

IMG will have the job of maximising the commercial value of the Australian Rally Championship for its current stakeholders and introducing a new range of interested parties.

Commented IMG’s director of motorsport, James Ashworth: "We see the Australian Rally Championship as an exciting product and one that really complements our other motorsport projects.
"We look forward to working with Australian Rally Commission Chairman Garry Connelly and his colleagues, and the ARC organisers and promoters in helping make the ARC one of the best rally championships in the world.
"We already have several proposals in the market place and look forward to taking the sport to another level in the country.
"I think there certainly has been some ground made in recent years, especially in the area of television with the home of motorsport Network Ten, and we want to build on that in a whole range of areas such as sponsorship, marketing, merchandising, media and corporate hospitality. We want to develop a standard look and feel to the whole show."
The Australian Rally Championships consist of six rounds per year with the three remaining rounds in 2003 still to run.
