The sport was buoyed by the domestic viewing figures in the UK for the Cinzano British Grand Prix - which saw the BBC broadcast the event live for the first time, and attract a 23.2 percent audience share, equating to around 1.5m viewers.
In Italy, the battle for the lead between Valentino Rossi and Max Biaggi was followed on Italia 1 by an audience of 3.8m viewers, representing a share of 34.27 percent. The record so far in Italy this season belongs to the round held in Mugello, with 6.2 million viewers and a 40.9 percent market share.
In Spain the MotoGP race at Donington Park was followed on TelevisiC3n EspaC1ola by a share of 23.4 percent, while the first victory of Hector Barbera's young 125cc career had 24.6 percent. The best audience share of the season came during the Gran Premio Marlboro de EspaC1a in Jerez, with 28 percent.
In France, the sole event that has been broadcasted live through France Television so far this season, the Polini Grand Prix de France, reached the 1.7 million mark and a 15.5 percent share.
