Kim takes action over bid claims

Tagged in

Kim Un-yong, the newly elected vice president of the International Olympic Committee, is taking legal action against claims that he obstructed the Korean city of Pyeongchang's bid to host the 2010 Olympics.

Kim confirmed that he would be taking the officials who allege he sabotaged the Pyeongchang bid to the IOC's ethics commission.
Among the officials facing Kim's wrath include Dick Pound - the Canadian IOC member and the head of an investigation committee during the 2002 Salt Lake City bribery scandal during which Kim received a 'severe warning' for unethical behaviour.
Kim is also tabling lawsuits against politician Kim Yong-hak of the Korean Grand National Party and a number of Pyeongchang bid officials including chairman Gong Ro-myung, all of whom have openly accused the IOC vice president of negatively campaigning against the Korean 2010 bid.
