ITEC launches new HR unit

A new company specialising in human resource services for professional sports team and athletes has been launched in the US.

HR specialists, Imaging Technologies Corporation (ITEC), has formed ProSportsHR as a wholly-owned subsidiary.

The firm will 'provide human resources services to professional sports teams, current and former professional athletes who own and/or operate businesses and their respective alumni associations'.

ITEC's SourceOne Group subsidiary currently serves 34 professional sports franchises in football and hockey. These clients will be transferred into ProSportsHR prior to the 2003-04 season beginning in the fall.

Said Brian Bonar, ITEC chairman and CEO: "The formation of ProSportsHR is another step in our strategy to provide targeted PEO [professional employer organisation] services.

"We will continue to build our PEO business with a view toward providing differentiated human resources services to vertical markets that may have specialised needs."

Tom Adams, a seasoned sales and marketing executive who also played professional basketball for the Detroit Pistons, Cincinnati Royals, and New York Nets, has been appointed vice president and general manager for ProSportsHR.

ITEC expects to begin consolidating ProSportsHR revenues by the third quarter of its current (2004) fiscal year.
