The state provider of the domestic US mail system has its most high profile sponsorship with the US cycling team in the Tour de France - which includes the legendary Lance Armstrong.
But the non-profit making Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) - which bills itself as an organisation 'dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, mismanagement and abuse in government' - claimed USPS had achieved 'an abysmal track record of botched marketing initiatives and mismanaged sports sponsorship expenditures'.
The USPS has constantly denied its sponsorships are anything but strong investments, and say that such involvement has generated more business than the costs involved.
