The bidding cities of Vancouver, Salzburg and PyeongChang will all make their final presentations to the IOC at the committee's 115th session in Prague today before a vote of the IOC members will decide the 2010 host city.
Vancouver is thought to be narrowly ahead of Salzburg in terms of support for its bid although the Canadian city will have to win a minimum of 52 votes of the 126 votes on offer in order to be handed the host duties.
European IOC members have a total of 58 votes, the Americas have 21, Asia 25, Africa 17 and Oceania 5.
The voting will take the form of two rounds with the city attracting the least number of votes eliminated after the first round.
The decision on the 2010 host city will have a major impact on the destination of the 2012 Games with European countries seemingly likely to vote for Vancouver in order for a European city to stand a greater chance of landing the following Summer Games given that the IOC has rarely handed two consecutive Olympics to the same continent.

International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge will open the envelope containing the name of the host city of the 2010 Winter Olympics later this afternoon.
