Coors has sponsored the League Cup for the last five years but has decided to switch the branding from Worthington to Carling after renewing the contract.
League chairman Sir Brian Mawhinney said he was delighted that Coors were on board after its initial reluctance to sign a new deal.
"Over the past five seasons Coors Brewers have become highly valued partners to the Football League," said Mawhinney.
"The healthy increase in revenue it delivers will provide a timely boost to our clubs as they begin their preparations for the new season and is a massive vote of confidence in League football."
The English Football League has restructured its sponsorship deal with brewers Coors which will see the name of the Worthington Cup changed to the Carling Cup for the next three years.
