The demise of First Advice into bankruptcy came too late for the club who had already manufactured almost 100,000 replica home shirts with the financial services company's brand logo on.
City has therefore decided to continue to play its home games in the First Advice branded shirt next season and has been given special permission by the Premier League to sell the sponsorship rights to its away shirt and the kit worn in European games separately.
Any sponsor looking to sign up with City will consequently have to accept a deal which does not include branding on the home shirts for the first year of the contract.
First Advice has completed the first year of its three year deal worth about £4million but City is unlikely to recoup any of the money following the demise of the financial services parent company Amulet Group.
English Premier League side Manchester City is to play its home games with the logo of a bankrupt sponsor on the team shirts next season.
