The opening game and ceremony will be held at Washington DC's RFK Stadium on September 21.
The decision was confirmed by US Soccer Federation president Robert Contiguglia and comes a week after the venues for the hastily rescheduled tournament were announced.
The event was originally due to take place in China but was moved to the US as a result of the SARS outbreak.
The stadium was opened earlier this month as a purpose-built soccer stadium and is the new home of MLS team Los Angeles Galaxy and the training base for the US national team.
The new 27,500-seater Home Depot Center in California has been confirmed as the host venue for the FIFA Women's World Cup soccer final later this year.
