The group, comprising of US and IOC representatives, will meet with officials from the Olympic Council of Asia and the UN Development Programme to examine a new infrastructure for sport in Iraq.
Said a US Olympic Committee spokesman: "Sport has the power to create hope and opportunity, and we think it is very important to be part of an effort to rebuild the sports programme in Iraq.
"This meeting represents the first step in what will be a long-term process."
Meetings will take place in Kuwait this week to discuss how to rebuild the Iraqi Olympic programme, following the recent regime change in the country.
