UEFA has confirmed Lars-Christer Olsson as its new chief executive - replacing Gerhard Aigner who retires at the end of the year.

Olsson, currently UEFA's director of professional football and marketing, joined UEFA in 2000 after serving as general secretary of the Swedish League and Swedish Football Association.
He was also tournament director of Euro 92 in Sweden, and now serves on the boards of both Euro 2004 SA and UEFA New Media.
Said UEFA president Lennart Johansson: "We are pleased to announce the appointment of Lars-Christer Olsson as the new UEFA CEO from January of next year. The current CEO, Gerhard Aigner, will work with Mr Olsson to prepare for the handover at the end of the year."
Added Olsson: "I am honoured and delighted to be asked by the UEFA Executive Committee to become the new UEFA CEO. I am excited by this new challenge and believe strongly that UEFA is in good shape to continue to lead the development of football in Europe."
