The South Florida city, which hopes to stage the NFL season-ender in 2007 at its Pro Player Stadium, was "at the 97 percent or higher point of what has to be accomplished according to Tagliabue.
The Super Bowl, which was last held in Miami in 1999, is a proven revenue driver for the host city and there is a long queue of NFL franchise hosting venues desperate to secure the game.
Miami seems to have held off the challenges of New Orleans and Washington to stage the 2007 Super Bowl with the latter capital now being considered for the 2008 event.
Detroit has already been awarded the Super Bowl in 2005.
A decision on 2007 seems set to be announced by Tagliabue shortly.
Miami is 97 percent certain of hosting the 2007 Super Bowl according to NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue.
