Brands' new marketing hire

Brands Hatch Circuits Ltd - formerly Octagon Motorsports - has appointed a new marketing executive to handle corporate hospitality and business sales.

Dirk Kelly's remit will include developing and implementing the business-to-business and corporate hospitality marketing strategies at the five circuits owned by the group, particularly for the key events such as British Grand Prix, World Superbikes and private track days.

It is the latest move to reinforce the new-look management team at the unit - a separately run division of marketing giant Octagon - following disastrous financial figures last year.

While Octagon's parent company, the Interpublic Group, has admitted it is examining 'exit strategies' in relation to its dealings with the unit, Brands Hatch Circuits has established a new, strong management team which appears so far, at least, to be turning things around.

It is widely expected the moves will eventually result in a sale of the unit - although the potential buyer remains unclear.

Kelly will report to group marketing manager Alasdair Farrimond.

Said Farrimond: “Dirk’s appointment is a valuable addition to my team. A key part of the group’s portfolio is our business-to-business division and Dirk’s experience in this area will ensure that we can deliver comprehensive and well-executed campaigns.”

Brands Hatch Circuits Ltd - which rebranded from Octagon Motorsports earlier this year in a bid to put some distance between it and Octagon, amid concerns its financial troubles were damaging the Octagon brand - owns five tracks in the UK, among them Brands Hatch and Silverstone - home of the Formula One British Grand Prix.
