Champion figures for UEFA

The power of the UEFA Champions League has again been demonstrated after massive domestic TV figures were reported for the semi-final second-legs staged this week.

In Italy - the home of both finalists, Juventus and AC Milan - more than 27.6m viewers tuned in to watch the local teams progress, according to UEFA.
Some 13.6m watched AC Milan prevail over neighbours Internazionale FC on Canale 5 on Tuesday – a market share of 44.4 percent – while the next evening 14.3m saw Juventus defeat Real Madrid CF on Italia 1 – 47.7 percent of the market.
Real Madrid's visit to Turin attracted an even greater slice of the Spanish audience, with 7.5m – 51.3 per cent of watchers – following live coverage of the holders' elimination.
There were also strong viewing figures in countries where local interest in the Champions League has already ended. In France, 6.9m viewers (30.1 percent) watched the match between Juventus and Madrid and the same match attracted 2m viewers (32.6 per cent) in the Netherlands.
In England, meanwhile, 4.5m (19.3 percent) people saw the all-Milan semi-final second leg. In Germany the Juventus-Madrid match attracted an audience of 4.7m (16.6 per cent).
