Bernie hints at Austrian return

Austria's hopes of getting back on to the Formula One calendar has been boosted after Bernie Ecclestone said he was keen for the race to be reinstated.

This weekend's race will be the last for the time being after Formula One chiefs pulled the plug on the race due to its stance on tobacco advertising - a fate similar to Spa in Belgium.

But, speaking to a German newspaper, Ecclestone said: "The Austrians know that they can rely on me and that I'm relying on them.

“At the first chance, we'll be back here. If we had more races, there would be a space for Austria once again. We just have to convince the teams to accept more races.”
