Fox signs road racing deal

The Grand American Road Racing Association has signed a deal with Fox Sports International to promote its broadcasts internationally.

Fox will assist in the marketing and coordination of international television distribution for the association and its Rolex Sports Car Series and Grand-Am Cup Series.

Said association president Roger Edmondson: "In its fourth year of offering championship road racing throughout North America, interest in Grand American Road Racing from abroad has been steady since the beginning. The Rolex 24 At Daytona has always had a big international appeal."

Edmondson added that requests for foreign broadcast rights had previously been handled directly from the Grand American office, but that increasing interest meant it was time to look for better distribution channels.

In addition to distribution on Fox Sports International, Grand American has seen the 2003 Rolex 24 at Daytona aired on Eurosport. There are also agreements to air the complete 2003 Rolex Series season in France on AB Motors..

Grand American's Rolex Series and Grand-Am Cup Series can be viewed throughout North America on SPEED Channel.
