CART builds on German 500

CART Champ Car has signed a deal with Speedpool Multimedia-Service to promote the sanctioning body and build exposure for the series' return to Germany.

The Hamburg-based firm, which specialises in motorsports PR, will act as liaison in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, to promote the German 500 which takes place at the EuroSpeedway in Lausitz on May 11.

Says CART Champ Car president and CEO Chris Pook: "In the debut race in 2001, German spectators demonstrated that CART Champ Car racing has a great number of fans in Germany and we will give them every reason to return to see us in 2003."

The 2001 race attracted close to 150,000 race fans.

The German race forms part of a two-leg European tour - the other race taking place the week before at England's Brands Hatch venue.
