Tyson fights for licence

The prospect of a return match between Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis this summer is fast disappearing after confirmation Tyson will appear on the undercard of a Lewis championship defence.

Tyson's team has agreed to him competing in a bout at the Continental Airlines Arena in New Jersey - the opponent has not yet been identified.
However, a stumbling block is expected to be winning a licence from the State Athletic Control Board, allowing Tyson to box. An attempt to win a permit from the same board in 1998 was withdrawn following angry scenes in which Tyson was left fuming after the board questioned whether he was mentally fit to fight.
Lennox Lewis, who would head the bill, is also in talks over who to fight on a night which would prove profitable to pay-TV networks Showtime and HBO, who represent the two fighters.
It could also still leave the door ajar to once again pit the two boxers against one another in the future - cashing in on them appearing on the same bill twice.
