Tennis Channel serves up ITF deal

The Tennis Channel - scheduled for launch later this year - has signed a rights deal with the International Tennis Federation.

The three-year agreement gives the Tennis Channel the US broacast rights to the ITF's three prestigious international team competitions: the Fed Cup, the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas and the Hyundai Hopman Cup.
The broad relationship between the network and the worldwide governing body of tennis includes live first-run competition, classic matches and highlight footage from the ITF's vast library of archived coverage.
The deal also includes substantial marketing and promotion of the ITF and its three flagship events.
The Tennis Channel has also announced that it has hired three new senior staff members as it continues to prepare for its official debut this spring.
David Safran has been named senior vice president of advertising sales. Faye Walker has joined the Tennis Channel as VP of marketing and John Morse, president of Byron Media, has joined the network as VP of research.
