Moscow will this week lobby the chiefs of basketball's Euroleague in a bid to convince it of its suitability to host the Final Four in 2005.
Euroleague CEO Jordi Bertomeu will meet with Yuriy Luzkhov, mayor of Moscow to discuss the issues around hosting the event, following the city made a number of expressions of interest.
Bertomeu had travelled to Moscow on the invitation of Russian teams to talk about the organisation of a professional basketball league.
The Russian clubs have the idea of reorganising their competition, entrusting its management to the clubs themselves and have sought the advice of Euroleague chiefs.
