State Farm expands LPGA deal

One of the LPGA's primary commercial partners, State Farm Insurance Companies has extended and expanded its multi-faceted sponsorship of the women's golf tour.

State Farm has announced it will continue as title sponsor and exclusive insurance and financial services advertiser of the State Farm LPGA Series through 2005.
In addition, State Farm is expanding its sponsorship to include the designation of the official financial institution of the LPGA for 2003 and official insurance company of the LPGA through 2005.

Comments Ty M. Votaw, LPGA commissioner: "State Farm has been one of the most dedicated champions of the LPGA since it assumed title sponsorship of the State Farm Classic in 1993. The broadening of its commitment elevates what was already one of the strongest relationships in women's sports and sets the stage for continued growth and prosperity for both organizations.
"From title sponsor of the State Farm Classic to title sponsor of the State Farm LPGA Series to now becoming the official insurance company and financial institution of the LPGA, State Farm has evolved into one of our organization's most comprehensive partners."
Added Jack Weekes, vice president of marketing at State Farm: "State Farm is proud to expand our sponsorship and support of the LPGA. We believe supporting women's athletics is essential to encouraging the competitive spirit. State Farm's sponsorship extension of the LPGA Series is a reflection of our continued commitment to women's sports."
