NFL Europe decision due

Tagged in &

NFL Europe is expected to learn today what impact the outbreak of war will have on its season amid concerns its start could be delayed.

NFL owners are expected to meet today to discuss and decide whether to send players and staff to Europe during this period of political instability in the Middle East.

It is not expected that the league will be shelved for the season, but it is possible the season may see its start delayed as owners await the results of the first week of hostilities in Iraq.

Said an NFL spokesman: "We want to speak to all the clubs and make sure we do the right thing. The players want to go over."

The US teams use the European league as a training ground for many of its up-and-coming stars.
