As FIFA met with representatives from UEFA's European Club Forum and the G14 pressure group in Zurich, it made a new plea in a bid to re-launch the tournament.
Said a FIFA spokesman: "FIFA urged European clubs to reconsider their views on the Club World Championship, as world football's governing body firmly believes that this competition is of great value, not only to the public, but also to the clubs themselves."
Clubs have previously spoken out against the tournament, claiming it was commercially a failure before and would be again - as well as further cluttering up the season's calendar.
As for clubs' claims for financial compensation from national associations when players are called up for their national team, FIFA pledged to look into this matter in more detail.
