Elite eight set for UK ice hockey

The UK's newly-formed Elite Ice Hockey League has confirmed that eight clubs are now committed to joining the set-up next season.

The new league was initiated after a number of clubs were forced to leave the existing Superleague in light of financial problems. The losses left the existing league with only five competing teams.
Initially, Superleague champions Sheffield Steelers, Belfast Giants, London Knights, Manchester and Nottingham Panthers all declared their intention in joining the new top-flight Elite Ice Hockey League structure.
The league also hope the three other clubs present at this week's meeting will confirm their participation by the end of this month.
A further four other teams had also expressed an interest in joining the Elite Ice Hockey League, which would take the league to 12 teams.
