Mosley rules out F1 changes

Max Mosley, president of motorsport governing body the FIA, has ruled out wide ranging changes to the new rules introduced to Formula One at the start of the season.

New rules were introduced to spice up the sport and revive its flagging TV viewing figures. The first race in Melbourne was hailed a spectacular success - although many pointed to the weather conditions, rather than race rule changes as the reason.

Teams and officials are due to meet after the first three rounds of the championship to discuss how the new rules have been implemented, but Mosley poured water on the suggestion of any sweeping changes.
"The rules cannot be changed during the season without unanimous agreement and I think most of the teams will feel we need more time to see the full effect.
"The new rules and procedures make it more probable that teams or drivers will make mistakes and give us a good race, as in Melbourne.
"But the best car-driver combinations will still be at or near the front most of the time and this is as it should be."
