Blatter sues UK paper

FIFA president Sepp Blatter is taking legal action against the UK newspaper the Daily Mail and writer Andrew Jennings.

FIFA confirmed it has instructed its lawyers to file law suits against Andrew Jennings and the Mail over a story which appeared in the paper in December.

Last Friday FIFA forced the newspaper to publish an apology over the article – but such steps did little to satisfy soccer’s world governing body.

“The Daily Mail continues to make libellous comments,” said a spokesman.
“FIFA is no longer prepared to accept such an underhand approach and has now decided that a British court is the appropriate forum to establish the facts and expose the Daily Mail's fiction.”
