Brazil set to host 2014 Cup

Brazil is set to get a clear run at hosting the 2014 FIFA World Cup after it secured the all-important support of the South American Football Federation (CSF).

Despite expected bids from other countries, world champions Brazil seem certain to secure the rights to stage the event following FIFA's decision earlier this month to award the 2014 tournament to South America.

Said Nicolas Leoz, chief of the CSF: "All 10 countries which make up the South American Confederation agreed that Brazil should host the 2014 World Cup."

Chile and Argentina had both been expected to make a bid, along with a joint proposal by Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela.
