Blue Jays hope for help

Major League Baseball's Toronto Blue Jays are locked in talks with league chiefs to identify a way to help it overcome the financial handicap of a weak Canadian dollar.

A number of formulas have been put before commissioner Bud Selig which tackle currency-adjustments schemes to help bridge the gap between it and US teams.
Last season, faced with a similar dilemma, the club was awarded a one-off $5m payment.
Said Rob Godfrey, spokesman for the Blue Jays: "The League has been extremely helpful and we are looking to hear from them before opening day."
