FIFA's 2010 requirements

The bidding process for the 2010 FIFA World Cup has taken its latest procedural step forward after soccer’s governing body sent the ‘list of requirements’ to the six African candidates.

This document, which details the essential elements that must be covered in the official bid documents, will be used as the base upon which the six candidates – Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia – can now build their bid.
As well as the list, the prospective host associations also received a form entitled ‘declaration from the national association to become an official bidder’, which they must complete and return to FIFA by May 31 in order to officially confirm their interest in hosting the 2010 tournament.
Bids will be presented to FIFA at the end of September, with site visits due to take place next January.
The FIFA Executive Committee will make a final decision in May 2004.
