A week of FIFA committee meetings in Zurich will
be rounded off by the Executive Committee on 6-7 March.
Figuring high on the list of topics to be discussed by the executive will be FIFA competitions, with no less than four scheduled to take place during the year 2003 alone:
the FIFA World Youth Championship in the United Arab Emirates, the FIFA Confederations Cup in France, the FIFA U-17 World Championship in Finland and the FIFA Women's World Cup
in China.
An eye will also be cast further ahead to the competitions scheduled for coming years and there will be an update on the bids to host the 2010
FIFA World Cup.
After receiving FIFA's List of Requirements at the end of February, the six national associations (South Africa, Egypt, Libya,
Morocco, Nigeria and Tunisia) that have declared an interest in staging the 2010 event will have until 31 May 2003 to confirm their bids.
Headed up by the soccer governing body's president Sepp Blatter, a series of FIFA committee meetings kicks off next week with a status report on preparations for the 2006 World Cup in Germany and the potential for a FIFA Club World Championship in 2005 among the issues on the agenda.
