The Executive Board meeting, to be held in Lausanne between February 20-21, will see discussions on the structural make-up of the Olympic programme take place following the postponement of a decision last year.
An IOC-commissioned report had suggested that baseball, softball and modern pentathlon be dropped from the Summer Games schedule following the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. However a vote on the issue proved inconclusive and the discussions will now continue at next week's agenda meeting.
The Executive Board meeting, which follows a number of commission and association meetings held earlier in the week, will also discuss a report by the Ethics Commission following recent revelations of misrepresentation within the US Olympic Committee.
Also on the agenda are status reports from the organising committees of the forthcoming Olympic Games in Athens (2004), Turin (2006) and Beijing (2008).
The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will meet next week where the issue of scaling back the number of sporting disciplines at the Games is one of a number of items on the agenda.
