Feyenoord goes East for sponsor

NTT DoCoMo, the leading Japanese telecommunication company, has signed a sponsorship contract with Dutch soccer club Feyenoord.

NTT DoCoMo, which has a strategic alliance with KPN Telecom in the Netherlands, is also a partner, through its Japanese unit, a partner of second division club Omija Ardija, based in Saitama.

The new deal will see increased co-operation between Feyenoord and Omija Ardija, which will see technical and management staff switch between the two.

Said Feyenoord chairman Jorien van den Herik: “This is an important step forward for Feyenoord. This deal illustrates the commercial and technical development of the club in the Far East. Next to this we will help Omiya Ardija in their development to become a leading football club in Asia.”
