Australian Cricketers' Association (ACA) chief executive Tim May and Australian Cricket Board (ACB) head James Sutherland are in South Africa to meet with government officials to discuss security in Zimbabwe, amid heightening concerns over security issues.
Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is to once again call for England's game to be moved to South Africa.
New Zealand has already said it will boycott games due to be staged in Kenya, again citing security issues.
With the tournament due to get underway later this month, the controversy is clouding what is traditionally the ICC's showpiece tournament.
The ICC will meet again later this week to discuss the issues.
Said John Howard, prime minister of Australia: "I think it would be a good thing if the ICC listened to the views of Australia and New Zealand and England and cancelled that part of the World Cup in Zimbabwe.
"For Australia's part, we are prepared to contribute to any cost that would be involved for the ACB or for cricket generally.
"My suspicion is that a lot the players feel that way."
Despite confirming Kenya and Zimbabwe would host Cricket World Cup games, the sport's governing body the ICC is set for new calls to shift games out of the politically sensitive countries.
