F1 prepares new peace deal

Renault Formula One team executive Patrick Faure (pictured) says an agreement is drawn up ready to replace the mysterious Concorde Agreement, and in doing so prevent the threat of a breakaway series.

Faure made the comments amid mounting fears the GPWC group of manufacturers Ford, Fiat, DaimlerChrysle and BMW, will form their own series when the existing agreement ends in 2008.
The GPWC is fuming over the share of income from the sport and wants more power in the dictating the future of the Formula One championship.
Speaking to Brazil's FormulaNews, Faure said: "We are seeking a solution for the future, and we have an agreement ready to replace the Concorde Agreement.
"We are in a war, but we only want the money generated by F1 to be better distributed among the teams. That is it."
"It is impossible that things remain as they are.
"That was the first age, now we should start a new one. If we cannot find a solution, we will wait until 2008 and then launch our own championship.
"However, I have the feeling that the situation will turn out alright. I am optimistic, but I will wait until we have an agreement."
