Legal look in new book

Tagged in , &

A UK law firm has published a major new book on sports law.

The 1200-page publication, entitled 'Sport-Law and Practice', was edited by Jonathan Taylor, a partner at city law firm Hammonds and Adam Lewis, barrister at Blackstone Chambers. It is published by Butterworths.

Topics discussed range from legal control of the sports sector, through the impact of European law on sport, to the legal and practical issues arising from the commercialisation of sports properties.

Said Hammonds' Jonathan Taylor: "As the amounts at stake in the sports
sector have risen, more and more legal claims have been made, prompting
frequent headlines, but there was no one source available that pulled all the relevant precedents and other information together.

"We believe this new book will serve as a definitive practical guide to sports law, consolidating all the key practice areas of interest to sports lawyers, governing bodies, sports agencies, clubs, commercial firms and associated professionals".

Legal issues impacting on sport will form a major part of SportAccord, the leading industry conference taking place in Madrid between May 12-16.
