The deal is worth a minimum of A$3m ($1.76m/EUR1.63m) over the next three years.
“Since the end of last season we have talked about the new breed of Bulldog and the signing of LeasePlan as the Western Bulldogs’ new major sponsor shows that the talk has stopped and we are now delivering,” said Western Bulldogs president, David Smorgon.
“It sends a very powerful message to everyone in the football community who have questioned the LeasePlan Western Bulldogs long-term future in the AFL competition,” said Smorgon.
“Sponsorship is only one part of re-building our club, another big part is membership and this announcement will give all of our supporters added impetus to sign up and become members,” said Smorgon.
Lease Plan’s major sponsorship of the Western Bulldogs, which includes an option for a further three years and several performance based incentives, also allows the Western Bulldogs to seek an additional sponsor for the pre season cup competition and the senior coach Peter Rohde.
