IOC in talks with US networks

Discussions between the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the US broadcast networks on the TV rights deals for the 2010 Winter Olympics have begun this week.

Representatives from ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN and Turner Sports met with members of the Olympic Committee for what the IOC has described as 'a fact finding mission.'
The negotiations are the first multinetwork Olympic bidding in the US since 1993 when NBC outbid ABC and NBC, paying $456 million for the rights to the Atlanta Games.
Since then NBC and the IOC have struck deals through the 2008 Olympics without other networks getting an opportunity to bid.
Sport's relationship with broadcasters comes under the microscope during the leading industry event SportAccord, taking place in Madrid between May 12-16.
