The network, which will simulcast a host of ESPN's array of events in a high definition format, will begin broadcasting at the end of March with the first Major League Baseball game of the season which pits the Texas Rangers against the Anaheim Angels.
ESPN HD will broadcast 100 live events in the new format over the course of the year. By 2004, the network is hoping to increase the total annual number of HDTV programming to 3,700 hours.

ESPN has announced that its new high definition TV network, ESPN HD, will launch on March 30 of this year.
