Buffalo entrepreneur Mark Hamister and his business partner Todd Berman have been in continuing negotiations with the Sabres regarding a buy-out of the team since winning the conditional approval of the NHL in November of last year.
However the bid is contingent on financial support from the state, county and city to give the green light to $25million (EUR24.9m) in improvements to the Sabres' stadium, the HSBC Arena.
With Hamister and Berman yet to sign off on this financial support, the NHL has agreed to give the Sabres' suitors an extra seven days to complete their negotiations.
The National Hockey League (NHL) has granted the potential buyers of the Buffalo Sabres franchise a one week extension to the imposed deadline to complete the deal.
