The International Olympic Committee (IOC) commission reviewing the preparations for the 2006 Winter Games in Turin has expressed its content with the progress being made as the plans enter the operational phase.

After concluding two days of meetings in Turin, the Coordination Commission of the IOC acknowledged the significant work undertaken by the Turin organising committee (TOROC) to consolidate its organisation and develop new working practices over the last year.
2003 will be a turning point for TOROC as preparations will move from a planning phase to an operational phase.
The increased cooperation between the organisers and local institutions, such as the Agenzia Torino 2006, which is in charge of the construction of permanent venues, the local authorities and public institutions overseeing public funded construction work, was also praised by the IOC delegation.
"We are satisfied to see that TOROC and local institutions have strengthened their relationship and are now working closely together", said Jean-Claude Killy, chairman of the Coordination Commission.
"The coming year will be decisive to maintain the momentum reached so far and ensure that not a day is lost in the progress of Games preparations."
