Four of the seven candidates to host the 2008 European Championships have been rejected by UEFA following today's vote in Geneva.

Bids from Greece/Turkey, Russia, Hungary and a joint proposal from Bosnia and Croatia failed to muster enough support from UEFA officials and have been eliminated from the procedure.

This leaves the remaining bids from Austria/Switzerland, Scotland/Ireland and a Nordic submission from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden fighting it out for the right to host the soccer tournament.
The committee is now holding a vote and the bid that receives an absolute majority - half plus one vote of the eligible members - will be handed the hosting status.
A result is expected later this afternoon.
