Free-to-air public broadcaster the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has bought up a rights deal which will see the magazine show, 'A Week in Baseball' air for 13 consecutive weeks.
Said Clive Russell, MLB's director for Europe, Africa and the Middle East: "This deal is the next step in MLB's ever growing investment in the South African baseball community. As a result of the deal, we look forward not only to an increased interest in MLB teams and their players but also the sport in general."
The rights deal is seen as the first step in bringing MLB to South African viewers with negotiations already begun on additional baseball programming.
Major League Baseball (MLB) has increased its global coverage by signing a broadcast rights deal in South Africa.
