The broadcaster sublicensed the rights as part of a deal with pan-regional network Fox Sports Latin America, which does not broadcast in Brazil.
Fox Sports Latin America acquired the exclusive rights to the Copa Libertadores earlier this year when its parent company, Fox Sports International, formed a sports programming holding venture with Hicks Muse Tate & Furst and Liberty Media following the demise of the PSN sports network.
Canal Fox will air 30 exclusive matches live from the tournament next year which runs between February and June. Thirty-two teams from 22 cities in 10 countries compete, and the winner goes on to play the victor in Europe's Champions League in the Copa Toyota Intercontinental, in Japan in December 2003.
Brazilian broadcaster Canal Fox has snapped up the TV rights to the prestigious Copa Toyota Libertadores soccer tournament.
