The distribution deal means that the US' two main pay-TV satellite platforms - DirecTV and EchoStar, will now both carry NBA TV and the NBA League Pass with the operators taking on board a price hike of the monthly carriage fee per subscriber which now stands at 25 cents.
DirecTV has more than 11 million customers across the US, all of whom will be able to receive NBA TV for a further six years as part of their basic subscription package.
Hitherto a news and highlights based network, NBA TV also begins airing live game coverage this season.
Subscribers sign up for the NBA League Pass on top of their basic package cost with an annual fee of $179 a year entitling the customer to upward of 40 out-of-market games a week during the regular season.
US pay-TV platform DirecTV has agreed a renewal deal to carry NBA TV - the league's 24-hour network - and subscription package NBA League Pass for a further six years.
