Produced by London agency Whitestone - the same agency which designed the logo for this year's tournament - it was unveiled at a special ceremony at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen, Germany and attended by both FIFA president Sepp Blatter and Franz Beckenbauer, chairman of the local organising committee.
"We wanted to whet the appetite for what will hopefully be an upbeat FIFA World Cup", said Andreas Abold, proprietor of abold, the agency commissioned by the organising committee to work alongside their London counterparts on the design of the logo: "Our goal was to convey, via a symbol, the incomparable emotions that can only be evoked by football."
The logo is called 'Celebrating Faces Of Football'.
