CricInfo in Wisden merger talks

A potential merger is on the cards between online cricket entity CricInfo and the sport's primary publisher Wisden.

According to media reports, Wisden, which launched a website last year that has thus far failed to impact on CricInfo's substantial global user base, has made a £1.8million ($2.8m/EUR2.8m) offer for a 67 percent controlling stake in CricInfo.
CricInfo is the largest single-sport website in the world with an estimated audience of 18 million and a monthly hit rate of around 150 million page impressions.
However, like many new media companies before it, the site has been struggling of late and has been forced into restructuring and redundancies.
It is believed that there is a rival bid on the table from Asian pay-TV network Ten Sports but that the Wisden bid is the primary offer in CricInfo's eyes.
