Though declining to name any of the interested parties, the EAA indicated that it had begun discussions for the rights contract which comes up for renewal on January 1, 2004.
Octagon Worldwide holds the existing commercial rights to the EAA's portfolio of properties which includes the European Championships.
This year's event, which took place in Munich in August, attracted over 300,000 spectators with more than 50 broadcasters screening the coverage to an estimated cumulative TV audience of 1 billion.
The European Athletic Association (EAA) has stated that it has already been contacted by 'several specialist agencies' with regard to its next marketing rights contract.
